Amos Jenkins was suspected of being a conjure man (witch doctor, wizard), before being found dead in his home in Frog town, which had been set on fire and burned. Jenkins originally from the Ozarks, had been stabbed in the heart with a pair of scissors and had a chunk of his hair cut off. The mysterious thing is the discovery of a mummified hand that was discovered under his bed. Gypsy Mary (a fortune teller), not considered a suspect in the case, foresees the solution to the case.
